Of my mates R5, Over 200bhp,

Its one ofthe nicest subtl Renaults i've seen in a long time, no 'chavvy' bodykits, all he has done is get the engine out of a Volvo T4 (ex police car) and moved the engine into the boot he has made it on the cover of Performance GTi Magazine witha 7-8pg spread.



Kept the wheels original, his charge cooler (which is better than an inter-cooler imo) arrived here at work last week so he went to 'secret location' and installed that, should be ready for July, and he will be taking it palces and showing it cant wait

u say 200bhp like its massive, this is easily achievable with the r5gtt engine with bigger turbo and tuning

But 200bhp in a Volvo engine will be alot more reliable! Is it RWD? You make it sound as if putting the engine in the boot was easy!

personally id rather see a tuned r5 gtt engine then sum1 whos just lashed a bigger engine in sumtimes,

impresive puttin it in the boot tho

Also, why choose a T4? I didn't know they were renowed for their tunability . Seen a few big volvo's running silly power, but presume they had T5 engines .

Im not sure why he put that particular engine in but its differnt i guess and it was a hard job not as easy as it looks, also the orange bar you can just make out is the rollcage will be getting better pics tonight for deffo

Well it can deffinately be tuned, and anything over 200bhp which i think is std power for one o those lumps will be silly quick in an R5.

T5 will be a whole lot more difficult i would of thought.

could be that then but with people saying what there saying its sort of got me thinking not saying there wrong or anything but they obvisly know alot more then me

If its a T5 motor then he's lost 50bhp odd....

Then again, if its a T4 motor, he's only gained a bit, I think they are 170bhp standard (that Mav guy should be able to say?).

Gone are the days of using Renault 21 Turbo engines in them

Charge coolers are best used for 1/4 mile animals as the charge is force chilled opposed to using air to cool the inlet. (Dragsters use CC as they sit on the line for a minute or 2 and wouldn't see any effect from an IC till nearly at the end of the strip, charge needs to be cold before they move).

Given that the engines in the boot, a CC is a good idea, that or a ground facing (angled) IC at the bottom of the car.
