from mine i cut past brereton heath, into the back of holmes chapel, then towards chelford but turned through goostrey to come out next to my work, was pretty muddy actually so that probably didnt help but i just find that in the wet it tends to slide, would being too low cause understeer?

Nothing to do with ride height, but if it's very stiff then yes! Sometimes a bit of roll is required!

What are your tyre pressures? If they're too high it'll make them spin up more easily.

there is no way... even with bald tyres in pissing wet... that a 1.2 would spin into 3rd without YOU making it.

Its the way you are describing it..... SPINNING INTO 3rd....

My 1.4 used to do that in the dry..... with my foot flat to the floor then dumping the clutch....

Probs just me being tired and getting a crap change

Spinning into 3rd in a 1.2

Im not saying its not possible because i have done it. but i was trying to do it along time ago at 17.

You will find it hard to get a 2.0 16v spinning into 3rd without trying with a decent tyre set up and dry road .

unless of course you have totally bold tyres with oil on them in the rain

on this site you'll get for

Goodyear Eagle F1's
or
UniRoyal Rainsports

I went with the UniRoyals as my student budget couldn't stretch to the Eagles but i've had absolutely no problem with the RainSports
although i'll be getting Eagles next time round - see if its worth the price difference!

I think someone swapped your engine overnight so you would spin up and die.

LOL! No way does your 1.2 spin 3rd without major effort. My XE is driveable in the wet, spins 3rd a lot but decent throttle control etc helps you get grip..
