Sure some of you have seen some posts by me sort of concerning this.

Car: 1.6 16v Corsa Sport 1999.

Suspension: Gmax supersport 60mm kit

Problems:

1) Think the kit is for the 8v's rather than heavier 16v's and mine has aircon which doesn't help weight issues...
2) front is lower than the back and the front 14" wheels with 185/60 tyres catch on the front of the plastic inner front arches... ones worn through and split now
3) I've got some cav gsi 15" rims and 195/45 yoko a539's to go on when i get the tyres fitted to the rims but think im gonna get serious problems with how low it sits.

questions:

1) will the gmax uprated shocks and springs for the 1.6 16v be much stiffer all round? or literally just the front be uprated as I'd expect the back would be the same weight on pretty much all corsas...
2) if i was to get 40mm gmax springs NOT made for the 1.6 16v do you think things would level out?
3) should i get uprated front shocks and springs for the front full stop (maybe the gmax 1.6 16v stuff) and keep the backs as they are? handling be ok?
4) should I just try and find some money to get a new kit altogether, not interested in coilovers but would like it to sit around -50mm and be stiffer than the gmax kit (it feels too soft for how low it is sometimes, moreso the front though obviously! and dives under braking making the back very skitish) and not give me front arch problems
5) ive been offered some 40mm autosport online front springs.. will these work ok with my gmax shocks or will it cock up my handling even more lol

i'm reluctant to put new wheels on just yet if it's gonna give me loads of problems...

car pic so you can see how it sits.

the catching area is at the very front of the front arch where the wing narrows a little

many many thanks, i wanna get to the bottom of this one asap.

front should be lower than the back anyway. Mine was with an apex 60mm kit.

I do kinda like how it sits, bit better pic of it how it looks in general, also the catching problem only seems to happen on one side which is strange, passenger side... :-s

the kit i have is the gmax 40 VA 20L kit.

gmax are mass produce so iirc they will all be same pundage, must be the big tyres that makes it scrape as when i had the fk's and cav rims on 195/45/15s it never scraped

thing is I lined up me new tyres i picked up yest and they're wider still so... lol, 185 aint that wide yet causing me shit...

if I have to mod the arches i'll have to cut the central bolt right down flush with the nut holding the top of the arch in and cut some of the plastic away on the inner arch lining. not wanting to remove them completely.

the gsi kit is listed under a different model name but doesnt mention differences in poundage and so on.. so i dunno

Best thing to do, is just try the new wheels.
And see if they rub, take a slow drive first.

They should be fine, i have 195/45/15 tyres on 15s, on a nova lowered 60mm(tighter arches than corsa), and they dont rub. Even when i drove home with an engine in my boot

am pretty sure me backs will be fine but yep I think it's gonna have to be a trial and error thing lol.

if the wheels are wider is the width added on the outside face or the inside on the suspension side? or is it an evenly added width on either side?

another thing... i used boggo bushes and stuff, BUT the front bumpstops are GM ones and they looked like they were cut in half (come with the kit I brought 2nd hand)

is it likely the fact they're cut quite a lot, the reason why the front sits so low?

cheers

if thats wot the instructions said then i'd guess mine had 20mm chopped

ive decided try find some 40mm gmax front springs to see if things level out aided by the additional weight of my stupid aircon lol
