Do you need one that big? Why not a 3 series?

Dunno im just liking the chunkyness, later 7 series is smart aswell but seems they only come with an auto box
Im not saying im wanting one really, just like them. A neighbour just traded one in same as above but in silver, 28k miles on the clock, he only got £8k for it.

The only reason I asked was because the other day you were considering a mini. Obviously theres abit of a size difference there

Those 5 series are great.
Dad had a 530i Sport before getting the M3. Had an Auto box, which, he didn't think he'd like, and ended up falling in love with it. Had a manual option, but was pretty shite.
If you get one now, make sure it has all the bits, like Sat Nav, Bluetooh etc, as dads was pretty basic and he got a shocking trade in value.
For some reason, the same car but M5 version had more faults (i.e. electrics) than the normal Sports.
Look at a dechromed standard car with larger BMW alloys - for some reason, I really like them.

e39 5 series seem to have held there value very well and they get great reviews, good cars but you will want a 530i, 535i or 540i to be happy with the performance.
s4 might be a better bet

You'd pass everything on the road bar a petrol station in that thing!
My mate has one of they 1.8t cabs lovely car but i must admit i was dissapointed in the drive, felt smooth but it was far from quick.

When it's raining the noise with the hood up is quite intrusive, the wind deflector you get for them splits the cab as well so you wouldn't be allowed to talk to folk in the back

Im just gathering ideas for now, pending on what happens in the next few months i'll be getting a new car, not sure if I'll need performance or ecconomy yet so just looking at everything

Im sure it would remap to a bit quicker. A4 convertibles are lovely, my dads just sold his S4 convertible, was a lovely car, nice and refined and relatively quick.
He's got a 3.0 TDI one now, which he thinks is an awesome car. With the weather we've had lately i'd love a convertible.

I think that is the answer tbh, the acceleration felt very unturbo like for me i.e smooth but nothing spectacular

Yeah, it'll never be lightning coz it'll be a damn heavy car but you may get a bit more poke. I've driven a 3.0 V6 petrol one and that did'nt feel up to much either, car is just a bit too heavy.
