Just phoned Abbyey National and spoke to Sheik, right laugh.
Going to find out if Natwest are the same, if not i'm moving all my DD's over to them etc.

Thanks for listening.

result, my ISA, student account and credit card is with them anyway and their on-line banking is spot on. How hard is it switching direct debits over, got 5 to sort out.

The racism card gets played when folk bring this up but imo if you recieved the same shoddy treatment and unability to understand simple things without having to repeat yourself, from a British call centre, then you would complain just as much.

When I was living abroad most of my work colleagues were Indian (Cheaper labour) and they all address you as Mr Dave, Mr Liam etc! It sounds wierd at first but you soon get used to it.

Ordering takeaways over the phone was horrendous. I was known as Mr Lim, Mr Lion, Mr Leem, amongst others

More so i reckon, you would complain to the company at the fact that someone was employed who was not capable at their job, I think the raceism card on this one helps them get away with shippy the call centres over to India.
If they are just reading off cards they should just post the bloody cards they read onto a giant FAQ somewhere, that would be just as useful.

no its the big companies wanting to cut costs fault. I'd rather pay extra for acceptable customer service to be honest, and other factors like supporting our own economy etc.

Most people wouldn't rather pay extra, including you probably.

Computers for instance, the warranty costs would go up to pay for the more expensive labour, you'd go elsewhere because they have cheaper warrantys and no support, then moan about the lack of support and go back to the original place.

I hate speaking to indian call centres but I understand the reasoning behind it.

it depends on the difference to be honest, yeah if they were loads cheaper, then thing is, they move to indian call centres but do the customers see any benefits or does the profit margin increase more?! I'm going for the latter to be honest.
