Found my dads mate ian at last! Guy used to live near us but ended up in hartlepool. Engine in the nova is knackered (and now i can put a new engine in cheaper than ficing it thanks to ian) and he's going to come help me stick an engine in out of two rally engines he has spare.
Decisions - to make it simple (and still fast) should i put another astra mk2 gte 8v engine in. (running about 140bhp with new cams and inlet and stuff) - about 35k on it
or - a redtop with about 40k on it all standard apart from it's coming with exppensive spark plugs and was flushed out about 5k ago.
mileage on them is high as theyve been used quite a bit but always serviced every 2k and checked. as far as i know the only thing that went wrong between the two of them was an oil pump gasket on the 8v.
decisions.
oh yeh and btw - 8v engine is 120 quid, red top is 200 (engine i get will be serviced and everything checked and flushed)
