what up yo...
deadlifts
i am now doing deadlifts once a week 4 sets of 12 reps, as i am one huge mutha trucker i cant do normal deadlifts as it hurts my lower back.
So im now doing Sumo Deadlifts, lots less pressure on lower back and feel WAYYYY more comfortable. Plus i can left more weight this way.
As im still getting the movement down im only lifting 70kgs but once im into the swing of thing im gonna "rack em up"
just thought i would let any other tall gym peeps know. Sumo Deadlift is mucho nicer for you

Think the best i've deadlifted was about 170kgs. But i'm shorter and that was a while back and haven't been training properly while my car was away

When i go in a gym were people are doing dead lift it tends to look like the most painful un-helping exercise ever.... and it's usually a bald steroid abuser screaming in front of his chums.
Whats the crack with dead lifts because they just don't look healthy to me :S

So it's the best lower back excercise but it's also likely to put you out of work forever
Dont't think i'll bother tbh

its *the* best compound exercise there is, no other exercise uses as many muscles as the deadlift. Because of this it promotes growth. It's one of the safest exercises there is but at the same time can be dangerous. Ie there is no chance of getting crushed by weights but if you do it wrong you can fuck your back up.

Just looks to me like your lifting a heavy weight off the ground and putting it back down again...... no leg movement, arm movement, shoulder movment, just your back :S

Its a horrible exercise lol.. i used to have grazes on my legs from the bar rubbing against it. i could deadlift about 70kg safely but any more and it would just hurt. also my hands use to hurt so i had to buy some of those grips wich did help but doing that means you wont help any growth/strength in your hands/wrists wich is vital i think for exercises like this

think the deadlift works about 32 different muscles. I managed 105 iirc, but i had to wear a belt to help my lower back.

if you don't do it right then yeah but think about it, you have to hold the big heavy weights so thats using your arms, grip strngth, you bend at the knees to pick it up keeping your back straight, so that uses your leg muscles, you keep your shoulders back so you arn't rounding your back, so that engages your shoulders, the lift targets your back, alsoo uses lats, traps etc.
