Fucking clueless cunts
Went to look for a new motor today, so to local Vauxhall dealer, had a look round and got talking to some saleman. Was only a yound lad, i'd say around 25/26ish. Two things that stuck out from the conversation were these lines:
Him - What car you looking for?
Me - Thinking of a Corsa SRi, but I want one with the 16" 5 Spoke Alloys, not the normal 15" ones.
Him - (while slightly laughing) You'll be lucky to find one of them..
Me - Why, are they in short supply?
Him - No, they just never made one like that.
Me - Umm, well thats strange seeing as there is one sitting on't forecourt
Then we got talking about my car.
Him - What car have you got then.
Me - Lupo GTi
Him - Ah right yeah I know the one, the 2.0 isn't it,
Me - No, 1.6.
Him - Oh, really, always wondered how they'd got a big engine in such a small car.
Then we got to talking about the price.
Me - So how much will you give me for it then?
Him - Errmm, about 4.5K
Me - You've got to be kidding, its worth at least 6k
Him - Nah mate, it will never go for that.
Me - Well there is some older one's, with a lesser spec on Autotrader for around 7k, so mines got be to worth more that that.
Him - Nah mate, book price will be around 4.5k, I know it will.
Me - Well do you wanna check the book?
*gets book out and looks* - Him - Ah yeah your right, seems it is worth between 6-6.5k
He then started going on and on, and by this time i'd had enough of the clueless cunt, and told him i'd think about it and come back tomorrow

Or gone elsewhere.

Ive worked in car dealerships for 8 years and have sadly never come across a salesman that knew anything about cars (let alone anything about the ones they are selling!!)
When i worked at vauxhall they used to come and ask me the spec's of the cars!!!!!!!!
I find it scary how few know about what they are selling and equally what they are buying. The guys about to give you 6k worth of the dealerships money for your car and he hasnt a clue about the car!!!

Did they do them from factory with 16's? Or was it a dealer accessory fitted wheel? Maybe he was right and did know that amongst his 40 odd stock of cars, what wheels were on every car?
He works for Vauxhall, now VW, doesnt make him an expert on engine size on every model of car ever made.
And if they're on autotrader for 7k, work it backwards, if he gave you 6k for it(the minimum you'd take) that would leave a grand profit on the screen. £6995, but everyone wants a 'a deal' so they knock £200 off, then they may have to service/ do some recon work etc. which could have a bill of £300/400? and if its got no warranty, to put a warranty on the car is at least a couple hundred quid, how much profit does he make after all that?
Then has to pay VAT on the profit they make.
Business wouldnt be open for long with margins like that in the cars!!
Yes, I am a car salesman, and am surprised by the number of "experts" that exist in the general public who buy a car once every 2 or 3 years, as opposed to a salesman who does the whole process umpteen times a week!
