How do you go about paying for a car privately then? When ive bought and sold cars ive always used cash but this was for sums of no more than £6000.
Now im looking at buying a car which is worth £12k+ i dont fancy driving 100 miles with that sum of money sitting on my lap lol.
How do you go about paying for large sums of money like that. Anyway of getting a cheque that can be cashed instantly?
Cheers guys

Maybe take as much as you feel comfortable with. If you dont mind 6k then pay them half and pay the rest by bank transfer or cheque?

For a car which was only 100 miles away, I'd go with a cheque, drive home, wait til it's cleared, then collect the car another day.
I did that with my Nova, and my new Corsa.
If someone tried to give me 12k in cash, I'd be suspicious anyway

Bankers draft, or make arrangements with your local branch (of the car your buying) & do the paperwork & handover there

Banks Automated Clearning System. It's electronic transfer of money.
Though personally I would just use a bankers draft to buy the car...

I'm using a bankers draft for my Astra Coupé next week.
So BACS is just the same as a wire transfer?
