how can i remove a sump nut that is rusted on and is starting to round off? tried soaking it with wd-40 and no luck?

You may get a little bit go in, but it'll come out with the oil. If in doubt, give it a engine flush.

Dont spray it with wd40, alls that does is makes your tools slip off.
WD40 is only useful if you can spray it on the actual bolt thread.
If you have to drill it, i'd carefully take the sump off to do it.
Try hammering a socket/spanner on first tho. Maybe try a imperial size socket thats close to the sump plug so, it might fit on nicely if the plugs started to round off.
