past 2 days the cars temperature guage has been shooting way up to 100 and just a bit over... the fan is kicking in but not for long...

really worrying me as i cant really afford to get it fixed at the minute...

its a 1.6 16v sport if anyone could help that would be great

sports do this normally in traffic, should come down when the fan kicks in though

check your coolant level, could be low

look under the oil cap for mayo, this would be headgasket

Or mayo in the coolant, or mayo on the dipstick, or, if it's smoking like fook.

its smoking a good lot and drinking the oil but i thought thats maybe to do with it being decatted...

its not in traffic its while driving... theres a slight touch of mayo under the coolant cap but not much...

The best bet is to do a compression test. If the head gasket goes, the compression is lost in the cylinders. I'm not too sure of the pressures they should be at, but someone should be able to help.

really worrying me atm as im skint and cant afford to fix it till a month or 2 + i cant live without the car...
