Not for me, I'm not a leather fetishist
My mate wants to know what sort of bike he can ride at 21...
He's not done a CBT yet, and has no bike license.
What does he need to do? I seem to remember something about direct access ( ), can't remember the details though.
Basically, he wants to buy a Honda VFR400 (NC30) and ride it daily (he's had bikes before, just not road bikes)
Anyone know the rules?

Has to do his direct access for any bike or part 1 and be restricted to 33bhp and do his full test within 2 yrs IIRC

So if he does the direct access, he can buy a bike without restriction?

Did my CBT just the other month, expect to pay around £130 if you want to hire a bike.

So it's gonna cost him about £500 for both then, with bike hire.
That's quite a lot

Affraid so. It's always around £500-£600 to obtain a full bike licence. Which is ghey because I want to do mine in the near future.

If you start at 16, you can ride a 50 til you're 17, then a 125 til you're 19 and do your full test, which means you can ride anything.
If you're over 21, you can just jump straight on to whatever after doing your test.
I think that's right anyway

Not always. My m8 paid about £360 all in for a 3 day course, CBT, lessons, test etc and passed first time no probs.
