Noticed my paintwork was looking a bit dull and tired, needed some TLC, so that's what it got for 6 hours yesterday afternoon. Hell of a long time, wont be doing it again anytime soon! Hopefully the time and effort has paid off though...

Here's what I used and a brief description of how I did it...

- Washed it using Meguiars Gold Class shampoo.

- Cleaned wheels with the help of Meguiars Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner.

- Used Meguiars Clay Bar & Quik Detailer.

- Washed the car again to wash off the Quik Detailer.

- Dried the car off after washing, and covered it with Meguiars Scratch X, as the various swirls and fine scratches were getting me down!

- After buffing it all off, I waxed it using Meguiars NXT Tech Wax.

- And last but not least, I applied the Meguiars High Gloss tyre shine.

PICS:

The biggest mistake I felt I made was using the Scratch X... as soon as I started to buff it off I realised it was leaving marks where I was rubbing it... it looked like I'd rubbed the car down with a damp cloth and it had left the wipe marks, and these wouldn't come off no matter how hard I buffed it. I was worried at the time, thought I'd ruined the paint! Looks ok now, except for maybe the bonnet, which still has some really noticeable marks when you look at it . It was pretty tough to buff off aswell, and I'm not even sure it's helped the fine scratches or swirls... don't think I will be using it again!

The moral of this little story is this.... Try the product out on an inconspicuous area first (like it tells you to do on the bottle!), before covering the whole car in the stuff! Lesson learnt!

Think my 40mm Apex springs have settled in a lot more now too

Thoughts and opinions?

Oh and no... I don't know the depth of the paint to the nearest micron

you dont need to wash the car again after using the clay bar, can just apply stuff over it.

Wheels look amazing.

Thought about sri lower grills?

Looked a right mess after using the clay bar as all the Quik Detailer stuff had dried on so thought I may aswell quickly wash it again!

Would like the SRi lower grilles but money is a problem, I know they're cheap, but still
Plus I'm not 100% confident on fitting them, and taking the front bumper off was a bit of a mission when I did it last time so I could replace headlight bulbs (more down to a lack of having the correct tools for the job though really!)

Grills are £30 plus a guy i know paid a bodyshop to fit his an heatweld them in and they only charged £30. Tints would suit that aswell.

Thanks for all the comments

Mark330d, there's just so many things I want to do to it, but so little money unfortunately... I'd love a new backbox more than anything else but I don't think that will be happening anytime soon!

Where you from? Pics look a bit like the estate they knocked up behind Cineworld in Wolvo/Wednesfield.

Car's looking nice though. Really is an ace colour when it's polished up (did mine today too- same colour).

Not a great fan of the wheels, though i'd love my rims finished in the same colour, as it brings out the pearl in the paint more .

Yeah, it is a bit of a chore, but if I didn't wax it or anything I'd feel like I was neglecting it!

A dry day in the UK is a lot to ask for, but a fully working TVR is just too much

Just kidding

You're right about the colour. Though part of me wishes I'd have chose flame red!

Where did you buy your small front plate from?
