Hi people.

Im thinking of getting one of these for my next car. The E36 model. Whats your views on them? Is there any cars that are similar that are worth cosidering? I would only get one with fsh and a low miler. Im after a coupe and this is top of the list at the mo.

Any help appreciated

Dont worry about miles does really matter up to about 130k really. Check out the Nikasil issue and make sure you dont get one with an affected engine.

Cool, didn't know about that. Just had a little read about it and it says it will have a rough idle. Any other ways of finding out if its affected?

Cant really afford an e46, not a decent one anyway.

Its either a
BMW 328i sport
or a
Astra turbo coupe

Any opinions on both?

Why Nismo? I keep thinking of pro's and cons of both, but others opinions would be great

Twiggy, yours was very nice. I heard they like petrol, but tbh if i was really worried i would get a diesel! The servicing cost and repair cost scare me also on the BMW.

Would you go for one over an Astra coupe turb Marc?

I've always had Vauxhalls and would like a change tbh. But i get discount at Vauxhall so could be cheaper to repair than a beemer.

I've never driven an Astra Turbo so can't really compare them. Astra is a newer car though.

328 is a nice engine but the 330 was a much better engine

IMO it depends what you want. Astra Turbo will be a nice car and hopefully less maintenance - plus it may be easier to sell than an old BMW in a couple of years

If the 328 is a P, it'll be an E36 probably a typing error I know, but still.

E36 are common as much and cheap to come by , Astra newer, can look good when done right, fast.

Not as much as you'd think tbh!!!

Insurance might be an issue but petrol & services arnt much different to the 2.8!! The Evo has a 6th cog mind & is not too bad on fuel if you drive normal.

True, E36 328 to M3 isn't a huge jump, E46 328 to M3 is.
