WRX STi's have better internals than the lukewarm WRX's whether all jap WRX's were STi's I can't tell you I am afraid.

Stocker has a Clasic WRX STi and that runs low 13's on the quarter mile

Wrx sti is the better than a uk car and a wrx. They have about 276 brake standard i think whereas the wrx model is about 240. AFAIK they are all pretty much the same engine wise with different parts bolted onto them eg different turbo's and heads plus other stuff. Some have different blocks aswell but basically the same engine. Sti is the best one to go for apart from all the type r's, ra's etc

in not sure on the new age cars but in the classics, there are

uk turbo, 220bhp which is the same for the rb5, terzo and catalunya, which were all uk limited edition models,

then there are the jap imports which are
wrx 240bhp and
sti 280 redtop engines, which are the same internals apart from the sti having forged pistons as standard as far as im aware, they also have different mapping and can rev to just over 8k rpm, where as the wrx revs to just past 7, also the sti has a different intercooler and a strut brace and different suspension set up as standard, i had a import wrx and got myself a sti v4 now and the difference is unbelieveable, if you can afford it try and get a sti, much better car imo

sidc gives you plenty of info and check scoobynet out
