Basically, i'm weighing up car ideas for the summer, would want something for the same price as an Astra VXR, but want something quicker if possible.
Basically i've sat and thought about it, and there doesnt seem much in the way of performance cars between an astra VXR/Focus ST etc, and an Evo/scooby.
As much as i'd love to, i don't think i could justify the insurance on a sports saloon, being around £2k - double that of a VXR. Not to mention the extra servicing, tax, fuel etc etc (i'll be doing something silly like 16k miles a year )
Can't however seem to find a happy medium between the two :Boggle:
Any ideas?

I know . I thought i'd found one the other day in a mazda RX8 231 brake. thought that should shift a bit... same speed as a VXR .
I'd love a westy, but i don't think it'd be much fun as a daily commute on the M6 everyday... in the winter .

Don't have a leather fetish, not a great fan of bikes, and i like going round corners quick - compared to a sorted car you may aswell get off and push it round, it'd be just as fast .

I said that didn't I?
The problem is they are noticably more expensive to run aswell - done a few calculations and it works out about 300 more A MONTH to run an evo than an astra VXR .

VXR
0-100: 16.4
EVO
0-100: 14.8
considering there's a standing start in their it's not that bad IMO .
Oh, that's the 260bhp evo - www.autocar.co.uk

Honestly, people on VXR online have been shocked by how well the VXR keeps up with Evos.
Obviously a FQ330 or simular might be a different story.

Your approaching vx220 turbo money which with a remap would be a seriously quick car and far below 6s 0-60

- Erm, actually yes, there's loads on Auto trader and they come in on budget, but you still get shafted on insurance and servicing, casue it's an evo
I've considered them, and a VX Turbo, but again it'd be a daily drive, so not ideal. The insurance for just a vx220 was horrific - over £1800 iirc, so a VXT will be robbery .

dont take this the wrong way rob but you are being abit optimistic with yout thread title, the only car i can think of that fits the bill would be the vx220 and they are actually meant to be ok for a daily driver.
however you considered a focus rs or dc5 integra, iirc both hit 60 dead on 6 sec which i think you could live with

Probably is a bit optimistic, just trying to see if anytone else can come up with ideas for car's that fit the bill, cause i'm all out of ideas .
Focus RS's are overpriced IMO - some are more expensive than ST's . DC5's are ok, but again, expensive for what you get, and prefer turbo power to the Vtec system .

2 seconds at 100mph is quite a gap, you travel quite far in 2secs at a ton
