Right, been ofered a Zetec-S, but i havent found out how much yet, still need to go see it like, but just wondered what you all thought.
Its a 2000 X Plate, Black MK5 Fiesta Zetec-S, unsure on mileage, no tax, little MOT. It was stolen recovered, but the owner couldnt claim cause it was his fault cause he left the keys in the car. The car was then used in an armed robbery and loaded with beer, so the rear springs are squashed.
It also has a dent in the front wing, but im an Apprentice Panel Beater so thats no problem.
Just wondering what you lot think, and also what sort of price you would pay up to, as i said the owner couldnt claim, so it is not recorded as stolen recovered on the log book, just needs rear springs/shockers and a dent repairing.
Hopefully i might pick up a bargain

Make sure the engine is running well.
The Zetec engines were prone to burning a lot of oil, without giving any warning. As a result, the engine gets fooked. Replacement engines are expensive, and parts are like rocking horse shit.
Other than that, pretty good. My girlfriend has a MK4 Fiesta with a 1.4 Zetec engine. Was really nippy, and the MK5 is just a face lift of the MK4. Hers is a Ghia and handled well etc was pokey for a 1.4.
If you can get it cheap enough, then I don't see why not.
Oh, I know the later model ZetecS's had a slightly different engine, but that X is one of the first.

They do a fair few goodies for them, popular choice is to drop in the 1.7 lump and mod that, i think my mate said cams, polish ported head, manifold and a remap see's 140-145bhp out of the 1.6. But it's all expensive stuff!

Yeah, not cheap! lol. Mate of mine at work who is an absolute Ford nut, knows everything possible, said some even came from factory with 120BHP for some reason, and someone he knows has one with a 4 Branch manifold, straight through de-cat, and an air filter and its rolling roaded at 138BHP. Not bad.

They are nippy little things, there was one for sale a little while ago on tb's that was making est 160bhp+ but it was really tatty and needed alot of tlc, i think he only wanted £2500 for it.
