He doesnt seem to understand, those people who can afford to buy a £50k new 4x4 wont care about paying £400 a year to tax it.

Yeah probably not, alot of them are probably put through business etc anyway so £400 Road tax will go under company expences & written off from the big picture, not come from their back pocket.

To be fair they do think about it. Not only are you paying more tax than most people due to the amount of fuel used (all the tax on fuel) now they have to pay £400 to tax their cars. When its all finalised my dad is going to spend well over £1000 taxing his cars each year, I think my S3 is going to be £400

Just because they have the cars does'nt mean they should be stitched.

So people will just buy older cars to get around it then.

What about if you bought an 05 plate Monaro 6.0 VXR? Will you still pay £400 a year tax or is that of an age where it wont be affected?

Still band F then Olly, only just though. Above 225 and you go into the new Band G which is going to be the £400 one.

You only go into Band G if the car was registered on or after 23rd March 2006 and have Co2 emissions over 225.

So if the car was registed 22nd March 2006 and has Co2 emissions of over 225 it would still be under Band F and tax would be £210 a year.
