Afternoon guys,
Just a bit of an update on the MK Indy R1 - Fuel tank, pump, filter, fuel lines, diff, prop, gear linkage, handbrake, clutch etc is all done. First piece of bodywork is now fitted too (the bit behind the engine) We were off to a flyer but now as the fiddly jobs have started, progress has slowed down.............4 hours to sort a gear linkage is a bit poor by anyones standards but when its the first time you do something its just one of them things. The fact that we dont know massive amounts about bike engines/gearboxes is also playing a part in slowing us down!
Next on the agenda is fitting the carbs and accelerator cable, radiator and associated plumbing and then its off back to where it was born (MK) to get wired. We were going to have a crack at the wiring ourselves but have chickened out, the guys at MK can do it in a couple of days, know exactly what theyre doing and its only £300 for something that could potentially make or break the car!
But anyway, here are some pics.............
Fuel pump and filter

Fuel tank (which still needs the sender putting in! Not looking forward to drilling a 3" hole in that!!!!!!)

Handbrake (Another pain in the arse job)

Front brake

Rik fitting the clutch cable (Grrrrrr again! )

Gear Linkage

Gear Lever and brake/fuel lines

Side view of gear linkage and the prop with adapter plate fitted onto the sprocket shaft of the R1 box (work of art!!!!)

Front view (Carbs still not fitted ) and weighing up how hard the bodywork is gonna be to line up!

Sorry if these posts are boring to some people but I find it really interesting, definitely the sort of posts I like to see anyway!!!
Cheers

Very Good work for tackling it, good idea letting the pros do the electrical side too!

I think the building part is most of the fun............altho 0-60 sub 4 secs in a car with no screen that weighs 450kgs will also be fun!
Def not a big fan of wires, dont mind fitting a stereo of wiring in a set of gauges etc but splicing an R1 loom to a 1990 Sierra loom is a little bit out of my league I think
