My dumbo ear rat was put to sleep this morning, 2 and half years old, the vet said he had a stroke poor little git, ill miss him

I always thought rats/gerbils/mice/hamsters only live a few weeks...or is that just hod I used to look after them?

gerbils are supposed to live to about 2 years old, all mine have lived over 3, with Weeble living till 4 and a half

I think putting them in the tank with the Piranha's so they could make friends didnt help matters. They always ended up fighting

That ages, never seen one of my pets live so long, i've had gerbils, hamsters, rats, chinchillas, rabbits, and mice and only one has died of old age, the others all been eaten my cats or the chinchilla by a puppy and rabbits by the fox within the first year usually

my hamster used to be bulletproof, he had to be with what i put him through lived for ages and went through alot of shit, then he died and the vet said it was the biggest tumor in a hamster hes seen! tough little bugger should of called him John Rambo

I found out only about two months ago that my hampster Rocky the russian dwarf died two times

thats right he died and then my mum took his dead body to pet shop and got a replacement who looked exactly the same, thought it was strange my hampster living for 6 years
