Can anyone shed any light on these as i know there are a few jap car owners on here? Im basically after rough anual servicing costs, what sort of power they are standard? And how easy it is to find a decent one. Personally i think they look so sexy.

You will be on 1st name terms with the attendant in shell, if its standard it shouldnt blow up, ideally you should be doing an oil service every 5k/6 months using high quality oil - £80, MOT shouldnt be a problem unless you decat it. Shouldnt be too hard to find a decent one, try & get a fresh import if possible, condition should be good as the japs dont salt their roads, just be wary of unknown modification & always pick standard over ones that have aftermarket parts, raised boost or a shopping list down the doors.

Thats all I can think of off top of my head.

Mitsubishi Lancer register has page of all of the different specs.

The 1,2 and 3 have the engine the wrong way round, so don't handle as well as the 4 onwards.

January 1995 saw the arrival of the Evolution 3- and this time the 5000 strong production run was brought up more quickly than the Evolution 2. The Evolution 3 looked more serious, with its new nose moulding (to channel air better to the radiator, intercooler, and brakes). New side skirts and rear corners, while the rear wing had grown again to reduce lift. Under the vented aluminium bonnet a new TDO5-16G6-7 Turbo, new exhaust system and increased compression brought another 10ps power rise, Torque output was unaltered, apart from a higher final drive ratio. Both GSR and RS still used the same 5speed gearbox. Interior tweaks were limited to a new Momo steering wheel (GSR only) and new fabric on the Evolution 2 type Recaros. The specs on this vehicle were an engine size of 1997 cc, 270 bhp at 6250 rpm, Torque was 228 lb ft at 3000 rpm. weight is 1260 kg (RS 1190 kg) A top speed of 149 mph and 0-60 in 4.9secs.

If it's one way, the engine tilts back as you accelerate, meaning less traction, the other way round, the weight makes the wheels dig in more.

4 is without a doubt the better car.
