Im going to be lowering my car shortly, -30mm.

But ive been in touch with my insurance company, and they said "...and what garage will be doing the replacement work?"

They are willing to insure me if i get as garage to do it, but arnt willing to if i lower it myself

Im confuzzled...

Any ideas? Anyone heard of companies being like this before?

Company is Zenith

It's quite normal for some companies to ask, but it's never been a problem for me

Post in your regional group asking if anyone can 'lower' your car (write a reciept)

Say you got a mobile mechanic to do it, and then make up some receipt in word.

its understandable to see why they want it done by a garage, take eel for example, if he fitted his own springs the whole struts etc would fall out an cause a big crash blah blah costing the insurance company money

its hard to get insured with a low rate. Lowering will make it less likely to get a low rate. And when i say low rate at 17-18 expect to be pay 1k+ insurance if its in your own name.
