.......at a highly reputable bmw specialist
£220 for inspection 1
£45 to flush brake flud and coolent
a few other bits
came to £294 which I was happy with (an INDICATED 15000 miles till next service, which is just an oil change - this is about 9000 in real miles)
wanted to do:
new brakes and pads on front (2000 miles left, fuck that they have LOADS on)
2 rear springs cracked - odd, but guy said a common fault - so ive bought some eibachs for it which will be used to replace them (£120 on ebay, rrp £170 so im happy, will fit myself)
all in all not a bad day, its the first penny I have spent on the car in 18 months

15000 miles on oil!
The skyline will have had about 15 oil changes by then. The impreza nearing its 5th... even the range rover gets new oil every 5k or so

with long life servicing, like on al the vag cars, you can do up to 20k without an oil change, theres an oil qulaity sensor, whihc monitors it, and tells you when it's below standard and therefore needs changing

still
oil is oil, metal is metal...
I'd rather change oil frequently as its so easy to do.

Yes true, same as me, but if you drive like a badger, the oil qulaity will get lower quicker, and your need a service earlier, no damage will ever be done

Yeah both my rear springs snapped completely, dropped the car by about 1-2", was told the same story about it being common.
My inspection 2 service is due soon.....the big one! lol!
Also, do your door handles stick? apparantly another common fault!

theres a grommet on the inside of the door you can remove and fit an allen key in to fix it
ive got some 45/25mm springs here but i guess the back end wont go down any lower if the springs are already snapped lol

30k on a diesel james
BUT i have never seen one come in for a first service on 30k more like 15k
But like james says, the oil quality is measured on modern vehicles and tells you when to service the car - the oil has so many additives etc, it why it costs about £60 for 5 litres..

PS.. thats a good price for the service.. if you owned a vdub and came to us you would be expected to pay about £350 for the same service
