from this last september....

everything looks ok!


to this three weekends ago

conservatory removed

to this as of the start of March

outside toliet and kitchen walls all taken down!!


water and gas now turned off, heating systems all gone... electric is a nightmare

no turning back now!

and today while the builder attempted to put up a RSJ, he said he can't support it with the timber thats in the wall, so it needed to come out.
So we removed some plaster board to reveal this......



Its the original front door!!! it had only been blocked up on the outside and covered with plaster board on the inside, then decorated!!!
It even opened!!! onto the block work

must have been the first door that got fited in 1911, may have been closed and covered up for 30yrs+

Oh well, it'll be removed tomorrow (thursday - 8th)

The restoration of original features in propertys is pretty popular at the moment, maybe replace the current door with this one?

just ordered a uPVC one from Anglian windows, so it matches the rest of the house LOL

ah rite! whereabouts are you in Notts? Which areas do you think are best to buy in? City centre or further out...West Bridgford, Mapperley, Arnold etc?

Original features in older houses are the way forward! my house was built in 1935, the previuos owner replaced the fron door with a upvc door, you get less draughts with them and they dont swell, but they dont look too clever imo.
Reckon you would get quite a bit for that door on ebay.... iam after 3 internal doors similar to that with the 3 panels at bottom and one at top, typical 30s style, thay fetch quite a bit...

yep, got three of them too.... jus need stripping and thet'll be nice, no good to us as they are!!

I agree, original features in older houses are ace That door that you found boarded up will be lovely once cleaned, its great its all still in one piece, and I love the internal doors aswell

I had Handy Grabber thingie hire this week, cheaper than skips, carried about two skip loads in one!


then this weekend I've removed the rst of the rendering

last weekend i did the bottom half


it did look like this.. last year lol
