Removed this from my Golf today...............any ideas what would cause whats happened???







Checked the bores & there fine, head looks alright. Anything else I should be looking at

Thats a 10 month old head gasket btw..........not done many miles - not sure if that will matter at all

any idea who made the gasket? a bit of a longshot i know but i did the head gasket on my ex's car in january and she had only had it changed about 8 months before. went in exactlt the same place too. (was a 1.4 8v astra though)

same here when she first had it done. my mate who suppiled the garage with the gasket was suprised because they are supposed to be very good gaskets lol

Steel rule on the edge, hold it up to the light, look for gaps.

Get it skimmed anyway to be safe, not worth messing about hoping that it's not

Would I be better to just lob the spare on - It came from a sound engine??

What about using a G60 metal head gasket aswell...........dont think its much more expensive!!
