It's absolutely ridiculous.

Anybody know of any insurance companies who would insure a 19 year old on a Subaru Impreza WRX, 1995 and worth £3500.

I'm just shopping around for a new car and looking at all possibilities.

i'd remove / skip CIS! they are rather crap plus you are looking at buying a "high risk" car and you'll be classed as a high risk driver!
back when i was 17 they wouldnt insure me on a Rover Metro GTi 16v! but if i found a year older GTA then they would!

At the end of the dat it's only worth £3500!!

I never realised how cheap they've got. Surely there is a company who will insure me!

Scoobs are one of the highest to insure, you age wont play much of a part in it, they are just sky high on insurance cus sooooo many are stolen/crashed.

of course age will play much part of it, 19 means you are part of the most high risk age group when it comes to insurance

it's Rediculous really i have lived in the roughest parts of manchester and never had my car broke into there, yet i park it in a posh part of cheshire where my gran lives (A rated postcode) and i had 2 break ins there, also from my grans Poctcode which is an A rated postcode (mine being F*) my premium would be 50% cheaper.

Tempted to use my grans postcode for my new car as it's a high ins group, or get mum insured on it, insure myself on a cinquecento 993cc FC W/ Drive any car and just drive the Golf about.

Are Insurance companys Regulated? it's extortion the prices they demand for ins, But still... Badgers shouldn't be allowed Scoobys at such a young age

yes hes owned most cars. Seriosuly at 19 i think you should be realistic, its not just value of the car its the fact you are young, inexperienced and want a high powered car.

What i find annoying is at 18 i could had a 1.8 turbo with 200bhp, i can now get insured on a modified g60 with 230bhp, yet i can't get insured on a std impreza.

my mate just bought a bug eyed impreza turbo wrx and his insurance is 1080FC

hes only 21 and has 2 or 3 years ncb, thats with elephant.

your best bet is to try and find 2 companies that will quote you, and get them to try and beat the last quote the other one gave you until they refuse to go any lower.

still dont hold your breath as at 19 you will be lucky to get a decent quote on one

yeah but for me at 19 and at 23 there was only 300 difference in insuring a scoob.

They are one of the worst to insure, the main thing is the car , age and area is the minor part of it.

Because it doesnt just go down to power!! you could insure a 400Bhp car over a std scoob, its the car classification itself that counts!

i'll add to that! my mate had a 1.4Luxe + nova which he converted to a 1.6 and then up to a 2ltr 8v, stripped it and added a cage and it turned out it was cheaper to insure it then when it was running the 1.6. but i should expect due to his nova being K reg, the Astra must have been a Mk3 there for younger than his nova and then the Cav the 2ltr came from was older!

like i said steve try and find 2 insurance companies that will quote you and haggle between the 2.

i done a random quote yesterday on an m3 evo(like the one that is burnt in general chat)
i quoted it for when i would be 22 and have 1 ncb, they wanted 6k

yet my friend who lives just down the road has an e36 m3, and was quoted for the evo model 1.5k

hes a year older than me and has 3 ncb now so it can be done
