My mates a qualified welder went to college soon as he left school whilst working for a company, You have to get time served and hes been working now for 3 years and is on a poor £6.50 an hour considering hes fully qualified although for the first two years he was on £5.50 an hour, it goes up in May i believe to £9.50 an hour, the lad who he works with has been doing it for 5 years time served and is on £13 an hour, hope this helps!

get your codings for going offshore, then you'll be rolling in it
only bummer is
college will fund you through years 1-3 but you have to pay the codings off your own back,
up here welders are generally paid £13-£15 per hour

iam paying off my own back at the moment as it's night classes iam doing. iam on good a wage at the moment for what iam doing (not welding). so the best bet is to work my way up to a coded welder doin night classes
