Bought some of this today in a bit of a gamble, never expected it to work kinda thing.
My issue was with the plastic archs on my car, specifically the inner edge especially at the bottom, this is where all the stones are flicked up and takes the paint off over time, has happened to every one I have seen, so seeing that i still had a reasonable paint coverage on it decided to try and keep it that way.
Id heard about paint protection film that you can have applied to your vehicles bumpers etc to protect against stone chips, so thought i go see if Halfords had any applications. They did have paint protection film kits in various sizes, so i bought one!
When I got it back i really didnt have much confidence in it, Halfords attempts at providing solutions to "proper" attempts never work out as well, but on applying it i found it to be a really good product, had the full application kit and the application system works really well, i cut a piece out for the inner arch and it has stuck really well, and you cant see it and almost makes the paint appear new and shiny.
I can see this also working very well if you wanted to use in on bumpers, mirrors etc.
It costs about 25 quid which is a bargain considering you can pay £350+ for a company to do it for you.
I can really recommend this stuff.

be good for pll with colour codes arches on corsas too as the rears get abit of hammer from stones

yeah they are good
the only thing that concerns me about these kits is that the film can turn yellow ish over time, suppose for the money you can't compain

how does that work then? wont you just be polishing the film? So there will be no effect since its not getting onto the paint. Does it go through the film? And whats it like for taking off? sorry about all the questions, just want to get some things cleared up before i try it

obviously it wont polish the paint underneath it, but if your polishing the paint around it it doesnt matter if you polish over the film, and the paint underneath wont need polishing anyway as its not being exposed to the elements.
as for taking it off, i dont know i think its stuck pretty hard, but there maybe a removal kit of some sort

Just get the stuff re-painted when the chips get bad. Looks a lot better then having some crappy film stuck over your nice shiney paint.

will do for the inner edge of my skirts, and it would be worthwhile putting in it areas that are prone to chips, small areas mind i wouldnt want it over large areas
and for those who cant spray ed, it can cost 200+ for a front end respray

I'm just thinking that you are putting something on your car to try and keep it looking nice. But then then thing you are putting on the car looks crap because it doesn't shine and gets really bad swirl marks on it. It's not like the front end of the car gets major chips in it though? I would think it's a thing you would get sone every 5 years or so if you cared a lot?
