This may be a repost, but has anyone ever seen/heard anything about John Titor? If you haven't heard of him before, basically in the year 2000 he started posting online claiming to be from the future, 2036 to be exact. now i can hear you saying "thats a load of codswallop" from here but he "predicted" things to happen which have turned out to happen, other things haven't. check this site out, its a cracking read whether hes a fake or not

just been reading it and it's interesting, but i think we have to take it with a pinch of salt. Some of the "predicitions" like a another world war in 2015(?), how something amazing happens in 2012 (based on a myth that world is going to end that year) etc is all possible but this John Titor also stated that there wont be anymore olympics after 2004....er Turin 2006?
Eitherway, he didn't state any lottery numbers or stocks to buy which is a shame

Interesting read.
Also interesting to know that ebay.com and co.uk have no IBM 5100s for sale.

definately take it with a pinch of salt, but hes also covered his back with the idea of not always travelling in the same dimension, ie if you go back 10 years you might end up in a separate dimension where a certain thing never happened.
i never for once believed it to be true, but i stumbled across it afew years ago and it got me thinking, even if i never believed it.

The thing thats odd is the fact that there is research going to into creating black and worm holes (didn't someone manage to create a black-holes recently for a fraction of a second?), and time travelling is being linked to it. So i wouldn't be suprised that a form of time travel would be possible with 30 years or so.
But this Titor did get quite a few facts wrong, which im guessing would be quite odd from someone in the future, especially stuff like the olympics, which im sure you wouldn't forget. So it does sound a bit fishy.
But if there is an ounce of truth in it all, then it's worrying that there could be an almost nuclear holocaust in 2015

you're very right Dom, but read my last post, he introduces the idea of paths in time, when he travels back he won't necessarily travel back to the same one as he came from. where some things are different. its fishy indeed but hes covered himself on the subject.
heres a picture i found from another site of him supposedly travelling through time. the red line is a laser from a laser pen, which is being bent due to the black hole.

CERN will create black holes in their particle accelerator, as a side effect of the research.
To me, it seems like the guy is a modern day nostradamus, just got lucky with specifics on a couple of occasions, the rest is pretty vague.

also true robin, some of the things that he suppsoedly foresaw are also very vague. in one of his posts he said something along the lines of "you want to see the face of people i've just told 100,000 people are going to die tomorrow" and they linked that to him knowing about the Tsunami, too vague tbh.

Exactly.
He mentions 3:45 am on the 29th of march 2015 (or something similar, think the day is wrong) and says to avoid Washington DC. He says it as a 'i could tell you to...' like an example, but that would coincide with the nuclear attacks from russia, so maybe it's an 'example' which is the actual date?
Problem is, we have to wait 8 years to know
The nearest thing he mentioned was 2008, but I can't remember what it was

i also read the premonition of a civil war in the US in 2005 (?, it may have been 2006) but i'm yet to see a civil war in the US. the only thing that mildly resembled a civil war was the looting that took place in New Orleans where people were fighting with the army etc.
the thing i'm worried about is this nuclear war thats coming, 3 billion people dead also mad cow disease

Thing with Nuclear Holocaust is it's seen as a sword of damacles hanging over our heads. Anyone who can tell us a date it might happen makes the threat which we can push to the backs of our minds all the more real.
He mentions how he's met "himself" before, I'm sure that a military program would forbid such things, along with publicising his "mission", no matter hiw things have changed post apolcalypse.

As I remember there was something supposed to happen in March 2005 or 2006, can't remember. I remember Oly was quite certain we should all be shaking in our office chairs as we read each paragraph of the internets best information.
That came and went, as will that one.
I know the world is more violent and capable than ever before - but as for predicting it - come on.

Besides, I think the threat comes much more from "terrorist" activities, all nuclear powers are aware of the MAD concept, no one wants to be wiped out.
Except the minority who don't have a clear base of operations to strike back at. Picture this, terrorist detonates a dirty bomb in Washington DC, do the yanks now launch nuclear missiles at Afghanistan? Or Iran? Or maybe still Iraq cos there's still a chance the people responsible trained there? It wouldn't be allowed to happen.
Even North Korea seems to be mellowing. They like their way of life, they don't want it to end.

Andy, I suppose it depends on your perception of 'civil war'
I'm sure there are daily demonstrations in the US, against the current involvement in the Iraq conflicts, which could well be the start of a Civil War, much like the UK getting pissed off with the government and people just deciding to do something about it.
I agree with Ash too, Marty McFly wasn't supposed to talk to himself

Another thing that struck me is that he infers space travel hasn't evolved a great deal. But surely, if they have conquered time travel, space exploration should be a walk in the park. After all, the major constricting factor in SE is the time taken to travel the universe - control this and you can travel to a point in space at any time. The only trouble then is making sure you don't end up stuck inside a planet.

Meaning that they could leave this infected planet and go to more prosperous lands?

The problem there being that by the time you arrive, the ecosystem on the other planet may have been created, thrived and been destroyed millions of years before.
You don't just have to find the planet similar to earth, you have to get there at the right time as well.

Well the universe isn't static. It's odds on that even if they simply sat in a time bubble, not moving n any planar direction, the earth will at some point be eaten by the sun and another planet appear where it used to be that could sustain life. If you can time travel, you can just wait for that to happen

But they have the technology to control this! They could move to Mars, and go back in time to an age when there was an atmosphere there...
