I want to lose some weight before my holiday in July. I'm going to rejoin the gym and get a personal trainer.

What sort of foods should I be eating? I'm not really a fan of vegetables/salad which makes it a bit harder

I was thinking about doing the special K challenge , a bowl for breakfast and lunch and a normal dinner, but I want that normal dinner to be healthy, currently I eat things like currys and chicken and chips etc , which isnt good

The Special K thing is a load of bollocks. It's the same as Slimfast and all that other crap.

Curries are OK, though you need to make them yourself so you know what you are putting in there and use brown rice not white rice.

diets like special K and slimfast are for women imo. they will make you lose WEIGHT but also muscle.

best bet is to eat things like chicken etc (the obvious healthy stuff) and plenty of cardio.

Eat small and often (ie 6 meals a day), this will keep your metabolism up. Keep the protein high and keep the carbs/fats medium-low.

There are a million and one diets out there but different things work for different people.

You could try eating small amounts often.
Make sure you eat breakfast and lots of fruit and veg.
Dont eat late at night.
Cut out junk eg chocolate and crisps and eat alternative healthy things.

Depends how much you want to lose etc

jobs a good one then. pasta, sandwhiches on wholemeal type bread, cereals and milk, spag bol, nuts, proper chicken. if you have chips go for the ones cooked in sunflower oil, rather than home cooked in the chip pan. Just change things like that will help, cut down on unhealthy snacks in between meals, it will all help.

James i highly suggest you go to www.bodybuilding.com and go to the forums, theres a section about fat loss on it. Spend a couple of hours reading the stickies and you'll learn a HELL of a lot.

I started training again nearly 4 weeks ago, i've lost 8lbs in that 4 weeks and its been all fat as i've gained strength and heavier lifts. I can already see the changes

Trust me read the stickies, and the ones in the nutrition section and you learn. Thats what i did, now i eat every 3 hours and eat the right stuff and you feel 500% better, and the fat drops off you. Notice i said fat not weight, don't go by your weight constantly, as you can lose fat but stay at the same weight! Luckily for the first 6 months of training a "newbie" can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time, after that you have to decide what you want to do.

chicken is fine as its one of the highest sources of protein which will help build/rebuild/maintain muscle instead of losing it. More lean muscle mass you have the better your metabolism is. Best ways to cook it is to boil it or grill it on a george foreman! You can pan fry it if you want to use it in a curry/stir fry or something, but obviously use olive oil not normal cooking oil.

Other great sources of protein - tuna/turkey and lean meat. always good to have a nice lean steak now and then to get some red meat nutrients in you!

oh yeh and if your going to get pasta, get brown(wholewheat) pasta as its better for you like brown rice is better than white.

When i really want to cut it down in a week i'll just have some chicken, broccoli and pasta for dinner with no sauce etc. Its annoying as most sauces are bad if your dieting no matter how healthy they say they are, all the added shit in them! Always best to make your own, but thats a lot of effort unless your a really gormet chef (which im not :-P )

If you want to loose weight then pasta is the last thing you want to be eating; unless you eat wheat free pasta or wholemeal pasta.

yeh that's what I was thinking ed...

Unless your using the energy to build muscles or something.

Just eat less carbs / more protein ... sorted. Do excerise. It's not hard.

If I wanted to I could lose a stone in 2 weeks no sweat.
