Following a conversation we were having in the pub Tuesday night and the idea of being a Recruitment Consultant came up, similar to sales which I am in at the moment. But unlikely I would have to work weekends which is a big bonus for me!
Just wondering what a realistic kind of OTE salary would be. On the job sites they say £50k+ for a junior/trainee!! Get real! If it were that easy, everyone would be doing it!

I used to be a Recruitment Consultant, its pretty demanding, you have to juggle between clients and candidates, arranging salary, training requirments, once they agree to this then you have to negotiate terms of employment, background checks, have interviews etc etc
my starting wage was £25k

Corb - i worked in an agency and they were all on call, if people didnt turn up, if there were problems etc as it was industrial people were working all hours
Interviewing wasn't that bad, mainly testing and a chat tbf to get an overall idea of that person, then sending them for interviews for the job. I was interviewing people and it was pretty easy tbh

I'm good at judging people if that helps. Sort the bullshitters from the non-bulshitters!
Ally, like, get a phonecall at 3am or something? What if I was in town!

Depends what consulting you do bud. If you do domestic for say builders and temp staff then the money is typically balls as the fee's are fairly low.
International on the other hand
I work for www.changejobs.net doing international recruitment for qualified chartered accountants. No fee is less than £4000 and I take 25% of that with 30% as an upper bracket if I exceed my target.
Company rule not discuss earnings but my boss billed £400 000 last year.
My summary good money and when its good its really good, when it's shit it's really shit and in International everything is over the phone & email so less control over candidates.

depends mate. Our policy is not to head hunt as it pisses the clients off but if someone applies for my job advert or has heard good things about my service (not likely ) thats ok
By the way, if any knows any qualified accountants tell them to email stuart.mitchell@changeinternational.net please. I'll personally give you £250 or vouchers of your choice if I place them
Many Thanks

Typical questions:
* Why do you want to work for this company?
* Why are you leaving your current position?
* What strengths will you bring to the firm?
* What are your weaknesses (bastard of a question )
* What issues did you face in your previous position and how did you overcome them?
* What supervising skills do you have, size of team managed, responsibilities?
* Ask good questions, company structure, clients, training opportunities, personal development etc
* Likely responsibilities
I could go on for ages bud but thats the just of it generally speaking

Where do see yourself in 5 years time?
Answer: Not here
I just flattered my boss when she asked me athat question. I believe my answer was:
"you look young and successful and you have obviously worked hard to get into the position you have achieved. IF I could do the sam and get my head down I would like t othink I could follow your example"
pass the straw...
