No excuses, and I dont want to get off of it. Just need some information.
I got caught doing 39 in a 30. In the letter there was no mention of a fine they want my details, whats does this mean is going to happen?

Probably 3 points and £60, if it was a camera that caught you they may not be mentioning the fine yet as they still gotta confirm who was actually driving.

Oh cool cheers, was worried there. Sounds sensible. Work extra over half term, then 1.5 shifts of that goes to a £60 fine, shit happens. Something to learn from. Better than a crash i spose.

Nowt mate...they ask for your details first then you send that off. Then they send you another letter of how to pay etc. I got caught doing 38 in a 30. Don't worry about it.

Ask for photo evidence, if the camera was facing the back of the car, they can't prove who was driving, they can't give the fine or the points.

6 points for 1 offence didnt affect mine.
3 points is nothing these days. 75 yr old Doris has probably got more points by going through red lights etc.

Arent you meant to give them the name of the driver though?
You would obviously know who was driving your car

Only if the car is insured with more than 1 driver. If its just in your name, cant see you've got a leg to stand on IMO.
But if you want to try and get away with it, id only see it possible if you and a mate were both doing a car journey for example. Both of you taking it in turns to drive, you could make out you cant remember who drove on what road etc.

Aslong as it doesn't affect my insurance I don't mind. A "bend over and take it" job.

i have not read any of the replies in this thread so if the this answer is above.........you are about to read it again
First letter you get from police regarding speeding is usually for you to fill in to inform them of the driver of the vehicle, so in your case its to admit it was you who was driving the vehicle which was driving in excess of the road limit.

they've closed this loophole now, if you don't tell them who was driving, then they just prosecute the registered owner
