Thinking about gettin a Cerbra on Sat; the 4.0 speed 6. Says that it failed on emmisions; have spoken to the bloke and he says the Cat needs replacing and could prob do with a set up and overhaul. Car is a 1999 with 37K and FTVRSH

Any idea on a ball park figure for an engine re-build on such a car Would pop around some specialists but snowed under at work during the day! Will be gettin an RAC inspection done before i even travel up and see it i think; but wanna know if i can realistically afford it

Any help would be great

4,0 will be a AJP V8 iirc, which is TVR's own engine, you really need to contact a specilist, as knowone on here will have any idea, except for stu, but even then his is a 6

and your sure it;s a 4.0 and not a 4.2

Have looked at CAT's and can get one or about £200 new (non genuine). Would have about £3K aside for any other costs required

Right, the best place to have it built by from a bit of reading is AUSTEC racing, the majority fo rebuilds cost 4-6k by the looks of things

from alot of owners view, because the S6 is a bit diffrent, knowone is really sure who the best people are the build it, but AUSTEC have the best reputation by the looks of it

also there is loads (a 5 page thread) on whos had there S6 rebuilt, there is loads who have had 2 rebuilds inside 20k miles

nah computer programmer now, all those years studying and wheeler dealing paid off

Might try and get a chance to give some specialists a call tomorrow. i would have thought £3K would have been enough; but who knows with TVR's

Yeh i can stretch that far; but dunno if im a fan of that one to be honest; want an original one with 18inch TVR spiders really.

Evo 7 or 8, Imprezza STi or p1 have also been in my thoughts; or maybe a 5.0 Chimera. Running costs arent an issue now as rarely use it and insurance on the TVR is quite a bit less than the evo and impreza!

TVR's are cool.

If I had one I think I would probably crash and kill myself before it had chance to think about needing a rebuild
