Just got a qoute at Adrian Flux which is great but the Excess is £350 Compulsory, does that mean no matter what i have to pay the first £350 - if thats true - is that all i have to pay - theres no volentary excess there after??
Sorry i just dont wanna get a cheap quote and then if i have an accident thionk to myself should have gone for the slightly dearer quote and less excess

You will have to pay the first £350 yes, check your policy for additional excess clauses/ voluntary excesses though. But £350 sounds about right.

Is that the accidental damage excess? Cos excesses are normally separated into:
accidental damage excess
fire, theft and malicious damage excess
windscreen breakage excess

When u get ur docs in the post just read through in case there's any voluntary excess on top of the £350.
If you do have a non fault claim then you can claim your excess back normally anyway.

the excess applies to you i.e. if you make a claim for your car, then you have to pay the 1st £350. It doesn't apply for the other party's car (getting repaired), whether you are at fault or not when your insurance is repairing it... that's the explanation I got from an insurance salesman

Compulsory excess is the excess the insurance company gives you.
They also ask if you would like to volunteer more of an excess to go on top of the compulsory excess. (i.e. £500, £100 more) this usually makes the premium come down slightly.
