... car broken into last week. The skally got past the dead lock and had my door open in like 5 seconds by jamming a screwdriver under the handle and riving it.
Anyway this happened right outside my office window in broad daylight with people stood around on the estate having a fag & chatting etc. Luckily my alarm went off right away and I ran to the window and saw him with my door open leaning in so I banged as hard as I could on the window (window doesnt open) and ran downstairs and as I got outside he was jumping into the stolen Mondeo and him and his mate (the getaway driver) sped off....
Luckily he didnt steal anything, he has however dented my door and broke the lock & barrel and cracked & bent the plastic handle.
He was after my JVC head unit as the trim was hanging off. I must've disturbed him by banging on the window..
Anyway more to the point my boss is now saying I should sell my car if I can because 'it will never be left alone' and 'I will no longer have peace of mind' etc. His comments r pi$$ing me right off and aren't exactly filling me with much confidence...
He's been on at me again today saying it could have been stolen etc and I should sell it because I wont be able to leave it anywhere anymore without worrying . His comments are making me worry about my car more than I need to!
I think, if I get a new single din head unit which is detachable (as opposed to the double din dvd monitor JVC thingy which isnt detachable) thieves won't really want to break into my car for it then will they??
I just needed let all this out my system! Sorry for the essay!

Tell him to fuck off.
It's up to you what you drive and what you do with it. Probably a chance thief. Make sure you take your face off.

dvd/monitor head units are worth a lot, so are a target for thieves, i'd say if you dont use it much just get a single din face off cd player, and always remove the face, then its barely worth it compared to with the current player

Bloody cheek of them in broad daylight - I wouldn't worry too much but taking out CD players isn't exactly a length process if you show your car again. Get a single din with removable facia plate. If cost is an issue, just get a cheapy, then it definitely won't get stolen.

Well I work on an industrial estate and a couple of the buildings have been broken into in the past 6 months.
So they might have been casing the estate again and spotted my car parked up while they were up here?

The stereo in my Nova was worth about £6. It got stolen.
Sara, I can see what your boss is saying, you probably will constantly be worried now, but it's not his choice what you do, tell him to GTF.

ah that would be horrible looking out the window to see someone in your car that would make me SOOO mad!!!! get a clifford alarm with the dual zone proximity sensor, it annoys everyone but atleast you know when someone is near your car, I had it so it text me when the sensor went off!

Police told me the mondeo was stolen when the reg was reported by the landlord.
It was stolen from Wigan and they did a burglary the same morning in warrington using the same car and broke into my car in whalley in the afternoon.

Well its not a large industrial estate. And its a posh area. The landlord is always patrolling it but it was just my luck he was leaving to go somewhere whilst the mondeo was arriving!

tell him its not good enough, and something needs to be done. i wouldnt stand for it, its not only your car in danger, its everyone elses car. and what if they were mentalists who didnt GAF, when you banged on the window, they might have hung around and waited for you. it's not safe.
