Can take it to court but you might end up paying the fine plus costs. What are the circumstances around the mistake?

if the car had video equipment and was filming you might get away with it but is it worth the risk of paying the legal fees for a court case if you lose

i got pulled over by a cocky young copper.... he walked up to window.... i flicked the window down and all he said was

"well thats answered my question"

I was like what??

He said he couldnt see a seat belt.

I HAD RED 3" 6 POINT HARNESSES ON FOR FUCK SAKE!

He must have felt like a right cunt... you can easily see the harnesses through the rear window!

copper said i never had a seatbelt on before and i simply said ''yes i did'' in a very stern voice and he said ok thats good. i would never dream about driving without a seatbelt on. why would you want to risk your life like that?

Exactly i never move without a seatbelt on, it feels like somethings missing! He was only about 20 and my cousen whos a cop just said that going by his PC number that hes a special constable, meaning he wouldnt really know what hes doing (not mentioning he gave me the ticket before a caution which hes ment to do 1st!), hes voluntary and only works a few hours a week. He said to write to the ticket office and explain. I had my belt under my arm, so he prob couldnt see i had it on, but he came up to my window and told me to get out and i had to take my belt off to get out he must of seen it! I said i had it on and he said if i wana protest it the infos on the back of the ticket

if it was under your arm its not technically on and in an accident would probably slice you in half so i wouldnt challenge the ticket

Tbh mate id just pay it but your annoyed at the fact which i can understand.

But there was a guy round here who got done for blue side lights in his m5 (of all cars) and he tried to fight the fine as they were road legal phillips ones.

Went to court and got 3 points, 60 fine and the 210 court costs for trying to argue police authority or summit.

Not worth it mate, walk in give them the tenner and walk out and forget it.

isn't it your responsibility to make sure everyone in your vehicle whilst you are driving wear's a seatbelt? i thought it was the drivers responsibility thats why you would get a ticket IMO.

It is illegal, otherwise they would fit a lap belt.
