[quote="AX Cossie"]Hi all,

Im new to this forum so be gentle!

I first bought the AX a couple of years ago with the intention of upgrading the performance and chassis to use her for track days.

The previous owner used it for sprints and hillclimbs and was quite competitive.

The best time I got at the strip was 16..6secs with all the interior.

That was with full interior and the all alloy 1.4 citroen engine with a 38DGAS carb on it!

Heres the power curve for the engine at that time:

This engine was sold shortly afterwards and a newer 1.6 16V engine from a peugeout 106 was bought pushing out about 120 bhp. Then the strippage began!

Engine went in pretty easily:

I started tarting her up a bit inside:

I then snapped this up at a price i couldnt refuse:

Its a Rotrex Centrifugal Supercharger, works in a simialr way to a turbo with impellors etc but is driven off the crankshaft pulley. This ones rated at about 2bar absolute, not bad for the 1600cc motor. Should be seeing near 250 bhp with that set up.

I concentrated on getting the car ready for the French Car show and MOT'd so I could drive her there. It was a tight deadline but mission accomplished:

After this i episode i decided that the shell was not strong enough to take the extra power of the supercharger and decided some shell strengthening was in order.

I was recommended this place from a mate of mine who was giving me some info on mapping my engine:

http://www.awtracksport.com/products/chassis/rollcage.php

The car was stripped and ready for the spaceframing:

They came and took the car a couple of months ago along with a deposit to get measuring up and ordering a few bits and peices.

This is the last I saw of her:

Since I was spending all this money on getting it spaceframed I may as well add a rear diff hanger and T5 transmission tunnel if i wanted to swap to RWD at a later date. So a rear cossie axle, diff and custom prop were on cards.

A month or so went by and talking with AW and looking at the costs involved of keeping it FWD over RWD, RWD was the better option and I could flog my expensive gearbox and get a T5 Borg Warner instead.

I will using the peugeout engine I have which has been fettled and will be pushing out about 300bhp at the fly hopefully. Ill mount it the right way round and get a bellhousing made to mate it to the T5 box.
I will need the front sections of a mk2 escort to finish off the front subframe so im on the look out for mk2 quick rack steering, grp4 alloy hubs, uprights, grp 4 world cup xmember and t5 box.

Thats the plan of attack now, and the latest is that the bulkhead has been cut out and a pinto block has been positioned to take a pattern from.

More pics up next week when i pay another visit to check on the progress and give them more bread.

[quote="AX Cossie"]took some more pics today of the progress so far.
Should be on its wheels by end of jan!

Possible wide arch kit perhaps?:

[quote="AX Cossie"]Ive come to the point in the conversion where im not sure which direction to go with regards to the engine.

Hers my pros and cons of each:

C2 Engine Pros:

1) Keeps its part of PSA group
2) First ever front mounted rwd TU engine I believe
3) Light weight
4) keeps it in the 1600cc bracket for 1/4miling
5) ive spent a lot of money getting it to the state of tune its in at the mo
6) progressive power/torque with s/c

C2 Engine Cons:

1) Gonna cost 1.5k to convert to RWD format
2) Will be in a high state of tune so frequent rebuilds etc

Buying a Cossie Engine Pros:

1) More Power
2) Cheaper
3) More tuning companies
4) Fit straight in without custom mounts, bellhousings etc

Cossie Engine Cons:

1) Heavier
2) Unknown Quantity as far as my knowledge is concerned
3) Turbo Lag
4) Will be difficult to shift my C2 engine

However ive managed to flog enough of the C2 engine to go with the cossie lump now :top:

a couple of additions to my growing parts list,

someone buy my pug/citroen/rotrex/omex bits!!!
