My mothers just been called up.........shes well pissed off

Says the case is scheduled to last 2 weeks + maybe a few days thereafter

Anyway she's not wanting to go so what excuse can she have to get out of this???

She wont get paid a penny because she doesnt work.

So all she's going to get out of it is bus fare recouped & miss out on a normal life for 2 weeks

TBH, it can't be that bad, all she has to do is sit there for a few days pretending to listen then take a 50/50 choice at the end

then under CJA 2003, she has a legal obligation to attend...unless a valid excuse is given..she will have to fill a form which will be assessed by the Bureau which will thendecide whether she can be excused or not...In some cases, it might be deferred.

Its totally fucked up.................has to take 2 weeks out of her life to site & listen to what some asshole criminal has done - feel quite sorry for her

i enjoyed it 100% and would do it again any day of the week

i got £5.13 a day to spen in the cafe, food was very nice, and what money i did not spend i took home at the end of the 2 weeks

got 29p a mile to drive and parking paid, was 40 mile round trip a day

You cant say her case is going to last for 2 weeks or more, 2 weeks is the standard period you're called for. She might hear one case, she might hear two cases. She might get lucky and hear none.

You was lucky then, crown courts usually sit from 10.00/10.30am until 16.00/16.30. You probably had Friday off so the judge could play golf.

Very rare but does happen. And the only way you can get out of it is if you have personal dificulties such as a pre-booked and paid for holiday.
