nice one mate
Would be good to get your training and then move on
My mate is a mechanic at his local garage and is on a good wage really but serious money is earned establishing your own garage mate

So you want to do an HNC, then a HND all around doing an apprenticeship. That's alot of work!

How old are you now??? Apprenticeship lasts 4yrs you will gain a HNC/D this allows you access into 2nd year of Uni you still have 3yrs full time at a university before you graduate.
Not trying to put you off just telling you it will take 8yrs to get there & thats if you go full pelt & quit work for uni after the apprenticeship!!
Open uni would be even longer cources are sometimes 7yrs long

Well I suppose if you started a 4yr apprenticeship at 16 you would be finished at 20 then at least 3yrs Uni if you study full time....so would be possible for 23.
7yr plan

As long as your getting a Degree because you need one for the career you want. If you want one just to say ' i have a degree' complete waste of time.

Yea for being a mechanic you would probably do better to gain experience than a degree.

Not really, In some careers yes. Like I wouldnt be too happy to have a doctor operate on me who didnt have a degree. However when it comes to my car id rather let someone who has a good track record & such than someone with a bit of paper saying there smart.
