I'm a bit behind when it comes to SORN and cars with no tax so here goes:

There are 2 cars parked in a local public carpark to me that have expired tax on them. Am I right in thinking they can't be in a public carpark if they're SORN and can't be on a public highway (which the carpark technicaly is) without tax.
One tax says 03-09-05

Who do I report them to? Police or DVLA?

You should write to the DVLA using the relevant form and request the logbook. Then if you get it you have just got a car for free

seems a little sad imo, reporting somebody to police etc even if they are out of tax. How far out are they?

You have to hope that they're not cars planted by the police, to attract theives, then you'd look silly

There was a car dumped on our car park at work not long ago, the doors were unlocked an everything so my brother told the police and they couldnt do anything ahout it unless it was on a public road. so my brother said. ahh right so if this car manages to find its "own" way to lets say.. the next turn off after here, you can shift it? they said yep lol

I think its still on our car park atm so i might have a check tonight lol
