CDA 9812 had it for over a year and it still looks great, operates well, just bought a ipos thing for it and its good with that, i like it more for not having that glide thing cos i have clubs for fingers and it doesnt have the biolite but i love it oh and you have to hard wire it - only problem and i wont be swaping mine for a long time

I want the 9812RB. Will be buying one when my engine is sorted out. A bit old now, but an impressive unit all the same!

The alpine 9857 is nice i have the 1-2 below it (9854) only thing i will say is it can be a little toppy (treble) apart from that it works well with a cd changer and ipod adapter with out any problems good solid head unit for the money

better price on the 9857..................

II always buy Alpine

had the current one about a year its quality...........fancy getting an i-pod compatable one next though

As far as I know my 2 previous ones are still going strong, one is in my mates dads cav & must be about 8yr old now

Quite like the look of those Becker Grand prix ones - does everything you need + more without looking like a christmas tree at the same time.

Im not a fan of all the risty glitsy ones that come & go, big stupd screens, dvd players etc - not interested

I have had the 9812-RB for a couple years and I think that alpine hasnt come out with anything better personally. Sure enough there is flashier head units, but sound quality wise, nothing under £300 tops it!

ive got the alpine 9856R in the fiesta.

i chose it over 9857R cos it lights up green, which imo an alipne unit should.

its not too fussy and does everything it needs to exceptionally well.

like colin, i do not go for fads with a headunit or one that resembles a xmas tree. all i ever want is a good sound and good performance from a tidy looking unit

Ive got a Clarion MXZ-718R, that combined with the DPH-913 processor still has a lot more audio functionality than a lot of units on the current market, I reckon. TBH, thats a fairly bold statement as Ive not looked at headunits for about 3 or 4 years, but remain confident most of these JVC, Pioneer, Panasonic and a lot of Alpines etc. are gimmecky.

McIntosh, Becker? Nakamichi? are they all still good?
