Is it me or is this guy getting a hell of a lot better?

His CL Final performance was little short of outstanding although slightly tempered by the fact he should really have stopped both goals and this season hes really stepped it up a gear!! Performed well in both Cup competitions and is proving a decent back-up keeper! Like a latter day Raymond van der Gouw!!!

One on one with Nolan was one of the best bits of goal keeping I have ever seen. I think Jens has 1 more season left, then Manuel will get number 1. IMO of course.

hmm... im 50/50 on him, i think he makes some outstanding saves but like dave says does not always look solid and composed maybe he is lacking first team experience? but im not sure he would be of high enough quality to play in the first team week in week out, just yet!

a run in the team gives you that confidence, only playing ever so often doesnt help things!

i agree thats why im 50/50 im not sure he would be able to keep the form up, remember alex maninger he played some awesome games and stepped upto the plate when we needed him and made some amazing saves but when he was needed for a long period of time his performances never seemed to shine.

exactly my point but do you remember seaman was out for a run of games and maninger came in and was fairly ordinary to say the least not amazing like when he played in the odd cup games etc...

I beleive its Herzbergs motivation theory you strive to get what you want so you try extra hard, but once you got it the novelty often wears off and your motivation is left temporary.

guess who ive been readin up on in business today

Yeah, it probably does have something to do with having to impress when you can as chances dont come about all the time if your a sub keeper. Im sure he had a few good games when Seaman was out as think thats when I saw him in a few games.

Im betting you've been reading about McGregors Theory X and Y aswell?

yup! the joys of motivational theories aye!

dont get me wrong i expect maninger prob did have make some good saves... i duno its hard to really compare keepers, some games they have nothing to do = good defence etc. and they arnt even noticed, then the week after the keeper is constantly being tested and if he pulls out a couple of fine saves he is raved about.

TBH that was when you had an amazing defence aswell so that probably made him seem better than he was!

I would not want him in an England shirt. Seems like its his 'second' choice for international football.
