As many of you might know I have a pretty standard GLS. I would put alloys on it, but have just had £200 worth of new tyres on it. The problem isn't buying the alloys, it's buying the tyres for them, especially as I'm on quite a budget.

Would 165/70R13 tyres go on the alloys, or would it look a bit odd?

These are the alloys I mean:

If they won't, what tyre sizes are needed? Or if there is a range of sizes, what size came on the alloys when new?

I'm pretty sure the tyres won't go on Corsa C SXi alloys.

Them wheels are 14's so no your tyres won't fit. I think them wheels usually have 165/60 14 tyres on and no they definatly won't go on Corsa C SXI wheels as they are 15".

OK, thanks. I know the basics of wheel and tyre size but wasn't sure, thought I might be able to do it but obviously not

The 13 is the bit that matters most.

The 165 is the width of the tyre
The 70 is the percentage of the width, which makes the height of the sidewall.
and the 13 is the diameter of the wheel.

So if you want to keep your tyres you will need to find some 13" alloys.

if you find a second hand set of alloys they should have tyres already on them although they may be partially worn they should last a reasonable time. also try selling the original wheels afterwards to recoup some of the cash

'Cause I can't really afford to get a whole new set of tyres in the near future. Plus who's going to want a set of 13" steelies for a decent price if alloys go for about £50?

i bought tigra rims for £100, then 2 new tyres (although as one was damaged before i got them bloke paid for it), so £40 for new tyre.

so £140 in all, and about £15 on refurbing and spraying met black for 195/65/R15 (think its 65? can't remember)

true mate.
just keep the steelies until the tyres are worn out then look at replacing them with alloys
you could get a nice-ish looking set of wheel trims until you get some alloys if you wanted to change the look of the current wheels slightly

Hmmm I'm undecided. If I do get any new wheel trims though Matt, they'll be genuine Vauxhall ones. I hate the look of anything else on a Corsa.

I'm not going to take it too serious with this car as I hope to change in a few years etc but I might buy a set of trims near the summer, put them on my car and have a go at spraying my old ones, see how they come up, could look quite cool
