Just wondering really. Joined yesterday, today being my 2nd day, and im absolutely fucked
Only using 30kg on all the equipment, doing 3 lots of 10 reps. My tits are sore, cant straighten my arms, or stretch much
What is everyone else doing at the gym?

What Steve said dude. You're not trying to pummel your body into submission and see how much you can lift. Just get a weight that you can do more reps with, without causing yourself any damage

Just start high, on equipment...
Ie. 30, then do 5 reps, lower it to 25, do 10 reps, lower it to 20, do 15 reps, and carry on the process.

3 weights sessions a week with the odd bit of cardio thrown in here and there, whether it be a run, cross trainer or swim

Warm up before and warm down after, it will make all the difference as it slowly releases the pepped up lactic acid in your muscles

You always get this when you start back at the gym or return to the gym after a down time. Youve got to tear muscle to build muscle dont forget
If you want to get big keep with high weights but not too high and go with a mate that can spot you and egg you on, it helps lots

Who said you shouldnt hurt?!!
If he is trying to build muscle he should be lifting heavy weights so he fails around 5 reps, and if this doesnt hurt you then your not doing it right!
Even if he is just toning with more reps, if he can manage 10 at that weight then its fine. If he isnt hurting the next day (rcovery day) then he isnt working the muscles enough.

The pain is easing off now. Don't have a recovery day, as I go everyday
Ps, trying to build up, not just tone up.

increased muscle size is basically scar tissue, hence why you need to 'rip to build'. you need a recovery day! pretty pointless otherwise!

yeah, you really should have a recovery day.
Id suggest doing 3 days of weights working similar groups (maybe a Monday, Weds, Fri/Sat) and if you want to go inbetween then do cardio.
As Meat just mentioned, building muscle NEEDS recovery days or you'll end up not letting your muscles heal properly and not get real gains.
