It all really intrests me and has for ages, i am going to start doing it at college in september but i was wandering if there are any places or anywhere that show you basics on the internet...?
A local bodyshop i use who deals with modified car parts and fitting has said i can go down and help and learn how to do it in my spare time if i wish, so may do that as he had a VW camper in the other week which was going a candy green so seems like it would be quite exciting too

Thik the best meathod is to aquire some old panals & get practicing, its not something that will come to you from reading a text book/website.

yeah thats why i think its good that this guy who works at this bodyshop said i can go down, its just a sole run thing you see and he takes great pride in his work. He said he will try and teach me bit by bit etc soo....

My mate Olly has had a few placements working on cars in bodyshops, he enjoyed it and could paint bits on our cars easy enough!
Only bad thing about being an apprentice again is that you go back to bad money. Having a nose full of filler and a layer of paint in your lungs puts some people off.
My mate has since left the trade because it spoilt his enjoyment of cars a little because of doing it every day.
Then again I know people that work in bodyshops that love it! So, it can go either way!!

my m8 is a spray man. he sprayed my car for me on the cheap provided i helped with all the prep work.
It bloody killed me all that rubbing, sanding, filling, making sure there was no possibility of water trapped under trim etc, then more sanding, scotching, and more of the same again lol.
he asked me if i would do his job and even tho the work he does it gr8 it is bloody hard and i said NO!

I know its hard work, but im going down to watch and help slightly how its done, so i wouldnt be doing all that i just want to learn how get rid of orange peal, how to prep properly etc..

ah so you dont actually want a job doing it you just want to be able to do it if you need to??
i would imagine its like anything really, there will be a course somewhere have you looked around local colleges for night classes etc etc?
Also helping out at a bodyshop unpaid is a goodway to go about it and would look excellent if you applied for an apprenticeship to start doing this for a living.

id like to get into it in the furture, i just ment for now it would be nice to know the basics like say being able to do colour coding my self, wheel spraying my self etc...
