my post 97 v grille hasa plastic panel all along the back of it it meaning no air passes through it! is that right as a mate of mine said its the first hes seen like this! its a genuine part thats been on since the car was built, cant understand the reasoning behind it!

Yeah by original grill has got that, only a gap for the horn. It'll soon change when I fit my badgeless grill

most of the cooling is done by the lower grille, the backing plate as far as im aware is just there to stop water etc getting into the engine bay.

Or possibly stones hitting the radiator as my dad just pointed out when showing him my new badgeless grill - I hope there isn't a history of that, although no-one else seems to have suffered on here.

ive had no problems with that... yet lol
but have had quite a lot of mucky water passing through the radiator and onto the engine when its really chucking it down.

we need someone with an irmscher grille because that will be proper spec, which will tell us weather it needs the back plate or not....
