What are people opinions on both cars

I have a Fiesta at the moment but got the chance to buy a 316 at a good price

Any one know how they compare performance wise??

Cheers

Might sound daft but I actually would rather have a 1.25 Fiesta than a BMW 316

Neither are going to be performance cars

Always been told by dad to leave 316's alone as its meant to struggle abit with the weight.

Have to agree..

The x14XE give better performance as well, and the 316 will be boggo basic. Fiesta will seem quite nippy compared to it, but then again, its just a fiesta.

A friends 1.25 zetec wasn't too far off my 1.4 either, so tbh, i'd say the BMW and fiesta are about the same, maybe the bmw has a slighty higher top end, but then think of the tax, insurance, fuel savings etc for the fezzy.

Wouldn't knock the fezzy too much. Puts our corsas to shame in standard format.

1.25 engines are good as well, just too tappetty for me

But what do you want? Look at me look at me (then watch as the laughs start as they realise it a 1.6), or just get from a-b on a very good cheap budget.

Servicing will be bugger all on the fezzy, lots more on the BMW.

I'd still personnally go for the fezzy.

I love questions like this, why can you only choose between these two cars (because you 'have been offered a 316' ?

I wouldn't bother with a 316, may aswell keep the benefits of a smaller and less costly fiesta.

If you want a bmw in a few years or can afford a decent one now then get one

I watched "Top gear GTI" ztec fiesta, Corsa srim, and Saxo VTS. The Ztex Fiesta won. It looked like a nipply little bugger I think that was a 1.6 or 1.8 though.

If it is an E46 316 it will be a detuned 1.8 engine, pretty pointless if you ask me.

I rate the Zetec engines for performance, just not how much oil they burn etc - my girlfriends 1.4 was nippy.

I'd stick with the Fiesta too probably - depends on the spec of the 316, mileage etc. Most 316's were really low spec though.

its the SE with the bigger bumpers etc

Had all suspension and a lot of engine work done,

Owned by my brother for the last couple of years.

Would also be the first time to insure a car in my name,

Yea that was it. ZetecS. The front bumper looks a little strange... Could grow on me though. Looked like a nice car. Sounded nice as well.

them 1.25s are nippy as fook they have about 75bhp dont they and the engines are revvy. VTRs are really over estimated i think too many people see a VTS is fast and assume the VTRs are the same.

friend had a 316, and still has. Its sat in his carpark gathering dust

Ive driven it twice. Twice too much.

I cant belive some one is comparing a fiesta 1.2 and a 316 BMW

Who exactly thinks this? If anyone who comments on either and knows that a vts is fast(er) they will more than likely know what a vtr is capable of.

I would give most people who are into cars a little more respect about how much they know. If that comment was made because someone compared a vtr to a fiesta 1.25 zetec I would say they are a decent comparison (you seem to be suggesting that corsa jay was unreasonable in comparing the two )
