Someone round my way got 6 points and his gf for letting her drive his astra. So I presume it's as bad as driving on the road.

maybe at certain times in the car park there maybe different rules. im sure this would be at your insurers discression. however in public car parks in normal hours you would be covered.

Technically, the carpark is private land if it's a supermarket. The insurer can refuse to pay out, but generally, they don't.
Not sure about a 'public' car park, owned by a council, but it may well be the same.

Like parking your car at night - most insurers ask where the car is parked and at what address. If you have to park on the road (when you say it's parked on the drive) or you visit a relative and stay the night, is your car insured or not?!

Id say yes, but then some insurers try everything to get out of paying out.

Think its got somthing to do with the carpark having public access meaning its the same as the road. I know years ago you couldn't claim in a petrol forecourt or carpark because it was private land but pretty sure the law has changed now.
