Off the lights in the VXR against a 2.2 VX220, he got away quicker but I gained and overtook with ease.

They are a bit turd the n/a model. No twisties involved otherwise he would win.

Thanks and good luck.

NA's are eaten with ease. As are the turbos, in a straight line anway. (and not off the line obviously).

£30 quid and still have half a tank.

We got it with a full tank of petrol, went down to Kent and back then put 30 quid in on Tuesday and done 20 miles since putting that in.

If its dry Saturday gonna go down Halfords get the Meguires mitt and the drying towel and give it a clean and some pics, KEN.

Its no worse than the GSi, just slot it in 6th at 40mph 1,500 rpm. Around town its a bit juicy, it hates town driving totally.

U'll find it actually suffers worse fuel economy at low revs (watch the computer, its quite scarey when normal driving watching it dip to 12mpg odd, when your driving like a lemon).

Letting it rev longer seems to work better (i.e let it rev to 4k, but not foot to floor, just partial throttle).

It'll get better the more miles it does as well.

Ours does about 260-300, town/rush hour carrageway driving....

0.2 mpg when stationary.

You may find it more stable and controllable in the wet on Sports mode as well as its a little light in the wet.

I wouldnt even be worrying about MPG in a car like that!

I dont get much more than 10mpg and probably the same in oil!

Can you explain to me exactly what sports mode is? I haven't really tested the car out properly yet but from the driving that I have done haven't noticed much difference between sports mode and non sports mode.

Its all good on the fuel, still have the Corsa runabout at the moment as well so the Astra doesn't have to be used everyday (even though Rachel keeps driving the Astra to work)

Sports basically means you only need to apply 40% on the throttle pedal, but the engine thinks your at full throttle.

If you sit at say 80mph in 6th, tap the sports mode, u'll feel a burst of acceleration. Not because the managment changes, but becuase it thinks your at full throttle instead.

It also makes the stearing a lot heavier and gives a LOT better feedback, and stiffens up the suspension.

Stu, ahh the joys of the TVR, always worth it though once you press the loud pedal

Should that not read Gallons Per Hour?

Only my Vectra changes from MPG to GPH when standing idle...

I really need to actually drive the car properly, just enjoying the straight line speed at the moment.

Would like to take it on the track at the spring action day at Coombe but I don't trust the idiots that turn up there in bangers and crash into the side of you.

Back feels very "wavey" on track like it wants to let go, but its jsut teh way it is. If feels like its going to let go LONG before it actually will let go.

The last corner before teh chicance at Snetterton was a ballsy corner. Many of the owners backed off, but by the end of the day i was on full throttle from the Esses all the way round to the last chinance. I've got a video of Donna giving it some beans and it gets wavey and she lets out a little " wooooarrrggghhh" but she trusted me that it would stick.

Next time, she was on throttle all the way round

Take it on track, seriously, you'll understand why i really think its Vauxhalls best STANDARD handling car yet.
