Yep il second that, ive just been worried with mine but all is fine fan kicks in at about 98

I think most people wire a seperate switch onto thier dash so they can operate it manually. Mine comes in about 98 too. Does seem to get hot very quickly in traffic. Been told its normal though.

My 12v does the same - needle gets to the middle and then the fan kicks in. Overheats when the car is at an angle especially.

There's no need to do anything, it's fine 
If the fan comes on, and the temperature drops, you're ok.
